Statement
As an artist, I explore space and perception. Recently I have been setting up situations in my studio that combine the viscoelastic properties of paint with pressure and tension. The resulting forms are biomorphic and lively. They often develop with a narrative or sense of place, but they never need either of those. If pressed for content, I would say I think a lot about the line; an intangible, mental construct that informs the universe with shapes and boundaries. I think about transformations, Interactions, and shifts that occur in the natural world, and some that occurred eons ago but still reach through time to shape our experience here and now. I think about the primal act of personifying agents of change in our lives, and of describing an ethereal distance between us and them. But ultimately, these works are simply journeys in color and light that evince how a moment could be when shared between my art, myself, and you.
